Gwen Olsen: Confessions of a Drug Pusher

Gwen Olsen spent 15 years as a drug marketer for some of the largest pharmaceutical companies, before suffering adverse reactions from some of the drugs she was taking, leading her to quit her job. Four years after she quit her job, her neice killed herself, a victim of the very drugs Gwen once encouraged doctors to diagnose. Gwen has since become a powerful whistle-blower, authoring a book called Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher: God's Call to Loving Arms, as well as speaking on radio shows and events around North America.

Gwen is an extremely informed speaker, having done an immense amount of research during her former career. She shares with us some of the inside story of the life of a pharmaceutical drug marketer, and talks about just how manipulated much of the pharmaceutical companies research is. So many drugs are being over- and mis-diagnosed for things they were never approved for, leading to extremely harmful results. There are so many frightening details, including suppressed data, bribes of doctors, deadly combinations of drug cocktails, and the corrupted profits that fuel it all.

She also talks about the mind-altering effects of anti-depressants and other psychotropic drugs, which are extremely addictive, and the links between anti-depressants and suicidal ideation (contemplating suicide). Near the end, Gwen talks about alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs, and offers suggestions for further reading.
